Under this rule, a party in a civil dispute may file a motion requesting mediation at any time after a complaint is filed. The court may order mediation based upon this motion, or upon its own motion. The order shall designate a mediator, a date for commencement, and apportionment of costs. The rule outlines procedures for conducting mediation, including challenging of mediators, termination of proceedings, confidentiality, dismissal of actions. Finally, basic procedures are outlined for other forms of ADR, such as early neutral evaluation, arbitration, settlement conferencing, and local dispute resolution.
