Tennessee Code 36-4-101 - 135: Divorce and Annulment

Tennessee Legislature. Jan. 1, 2018
https://bit.ly/2PWVqSD

This chapter relates to domestic relations cases where parties are seeking divorce. When said parties pursue mediation, the information divulged to the mediator will be confidential. The chapter addresses exceptions to the confidentiality provision and states that, unless stated in writing, mediators shall not be compelled to testify in any proceedings following the mediation session. Part 36-4-131 addresses issues of extensions and waivers for mediation as well as domestic abuse cases. In cases of domestic abuse, the victim of the alleged abuse must agree to mediation and is allowed a support person to attend the mediation. The mediation must be led by a certified mediator trained in domestic and family violence and a report must be submitted with 180 days from the date the complaint for divorce was filed.
