Mississippi Code 9-1-17: Supreme Court, circuit, chancery and county courts and Court of Appeals may punish for contempt and refer certain persons for placement in restitution, house arrest or restorative justice center or program

This section states that the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals and circuit, chancery and county courts may refer persons guilty of contempt for "placement in restitution, house arrest or restorative justice center or program." The maximum fine for these cases is $100 and the maximum prison sentence is 30 days. Persons found in contempt for failure to pay child support and 'imprisoned therefor' may also be referred to restorative justice centers or programs at the court's discretion.
