"The Illinois Equal Justice Foundation was created in 1999 pursuant to the Illinois Equal Justice Act. The Foundation distributes funds to not-for-profit legal aid providers to support the type of projects identified in the Act" (Taken from web site). The four categories of projects that are eligible for funds are: legal information for the public, mediation services, telephone advice and referral services, and civil legal assistance. The projects are intended to increase access to the justice system for Illinois residents.
