Court-Annexed Arbitration in Clark County, Nevada: An Evaluation of Its Impact on the Pace, Cost, and Quality of Civil Justice

Gatowski, Sophia I.; Dobbin, Shirley A.; DeWitt, John S.; Carpenter, Joseph F.; Dillehay, Ronald C.; Richardson, James T.; Carns, Donald. Justice System Journal, Jan. 1, 1996

Clark County, Nevada, set up a court-annexed arbitration program for civil cases with the goals of increasing the pace of litigation, reducing costs for both the court and litigants and maintaining the satisfaction of participants. This evaluation demonstrates that those goals are being met. A survey of attorneys, litigants and arbitrators reported satisfaction with reduction in cost and time of case disposition and no survey respondents felt that the arbitration was significantly inferior to other methods of dispute resolution.
