Indiana collects information on the circuit court family ADR programs each year. The programs consist of mediation services, free mediation days, parenting coordination, conflict resolution classes and intensive in-home case management, among other processes.
In 2008, more than 2400 cases involving 3000 children were served by programs around the state. The most common case type was dissolution with children. Parties with incomes below the federal poverty level comprised 43% of cases accepted into the program. Of the cases served by programs, 68% of the cases were referred to mediation and of that 68%, 62% of the cases in mediation settled. In all methods of resolution, 72% of cases settled.
