California Rules of Court Title 5, Rule 5.518: Court-Connected Child Protection/Dependency Mediation

This rule establishes mandatory standards of practice and administration for court-connected dependency mediation services. The rule lists the responsibilities of the services, including ensuring that mediators are competent and impartial and protecting confidentiality. The rule also describes requirements for the mediation process and lists training, continuing education, and experience requirements for mediators, as well as requirements for volunteers and training providers. Finally, the rule discusses issues of ethics, including confidentiality, conflicts of interest, and best interests of children.
