The article outlines the goals, methods and procedures used in the study of Indiana judges' opinions regarding civil and divorce mediation in their courts. The majority of judges responded that court-connected mediation could be a beneficial practice, but remained somewhat cautious as regards the implementation of mediation in their own courts as the Indiana ADR rule was very new at the time of the study. The authors conclude that more research is necessary to ensure judges' confidence in mediation.
